The most important thing about Emergency Preparedness? Is to know about it BEFORE the emergency. Trying to find this webpage and the information here during an actual emergency probably isn't going to be successful. Please read through all of the documents below and be prepared.
Emergency Prep updates from SLCA:
Jan 18th, 2025
Map your neighborhood: At the SLCA General Membership meeting held January 17th, we relayed the disappointing news that the McLain Fire Department no longer supports the use of Map Your Neighborhood software. The reason given was that the MYN program was too great of an effort to maintain with the constant in and outflux of residents. As you can imagine, with 600+ homes around Summit Lake and the part time nature of many homeowners, the Board does not have the capacity to manage this effort for the community without the use of this software.
We would, however, encourage individual neighbors around the lake to organically organize their own blocks to form an alliance to understand and share resources each home has that could be of value to neighbors for becoming prepared in the case of disaster striking.
Posted on the SLCA website are MYN tools for you to use to organize your own neighborhood preparation efforts.
Please send any questions you may have to Dan Leachman at [email protected]. He can help you in any way he can.
Thurston County is providing CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Basic Training April 5-7 if anyone is interested in attending that. Here is the flyer for that training.
