ARE YOU PREPARED ?????
Disaster Preparedness, is something that our Summit Lake Community has embraced and made a priority. Working with Thurston County Department of Emergency Management (DEM) and our local Fire Department, we will continue to involve more of our community members and become even more prepared and self-sufficient. The reality (the goal) in the event of a major disaster, is that we will be able take care of ourselves, family, friends and neighbors for 7 to 14 days. With limited access and egress into our community and the fact that local Fire Department and Medical Aid, may be committed to more populated area’s we need to have the mind-set that we are prepared to take care of ourselves.
We had our initial “Map Your Neighborhood” training with DEM and the class was very well received by many our Summit Lake residents who have signed-on to receive training and be part of our “Disaster Preparedness Team” Our Summit Lake Community Disaster Preparedness will consist of the following, in the very near and distant future-

- On-going training with Thurston County DEM
- First Aid/CPR training with our local Fire Department
- Identifying “Block Captains” who will be responsible for approximately 20 homes in his or her immediate area, in close proximity to their residence.
- Identifying our own capabilities with local resources.
- Firefighters, EMT’s, Nurse’s, Doctors, Carpenter’s/Contractors, Electricians, Plumbers
- Equipment- Tractors, Excavators, Generators, Chainsaws, Etc.
